Covina, CA – Today, Congressman Gil Cisneros, former Naval Officer, Under Secretary of Defense, and the Military’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, announced his re-election campaign for California’s 31st Congressional District.

Cisneros, who currently represents Los Angeles County in the 31st District, is running to represent the newly drawn 31st District after voters passed Proposition 50. The new district, which is primarily composed of the current 31st District, now includes a portion of San Bernardino County.

This year, Congressman Gil Cisneros returned $3.6 million to constituents through casework. He hosted 4 town halls and answered over 2,000 calls from concerned citizens. He launched the Military Mental Health Caucus, to fight for better mental health treatment for servicemembers and veterans.

“Defending, protecting, and serving the people of the United States has been my life’s work—it’s what inspired me to join the Navy, serve in the Biden administration and now, serve our communities in Congress,“ said Cisneros.

“With Donald Trump’s recent attacks on healthcare, immigrants, the LGBT community, and more, fighting for our country is more important than ever,” continued Cisneros. “I’m fighting every day for the millions of Americans who are suffering under sky-rocketing costs, hateful policies, and damaging effects to critical services like SNAP, Medicare, and Medicaid. Now, I want to continue that fight and ensure everyone in California’s 31st has the resources they need to live and thrive.”

The newly drawn 31st Congressional District includes the cities of Azusa, Bradbury, Chino, Covina, Duarte, Glendora, Industry, Irwindale, La Puente, La Verne, Monrovia, Montclair, Pomona, San Dimas, Walnut, and will stretch across both Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. 70% of the new district lines are within the current 31st District that Congressman Cisneros represents.
